I felt compelled to write a review after reading so MANY misguided reviews about this product. This was my first choice in potting mix for my vegetable garden but after the bad reviews I spent several hours doing "research" and have found some information I would like to share. I am not a vine voice participant or high ranking reviewer but organic materials are important to me. 1. This product does not advertise a pest free product. 2. Considering the products environment(probably sits in an enclosed warehouse until shipped in non-porous packaging, to sit in another warehouse then shipped to you via several delivery distribution centers, across the county) it would be a shock if the product didn't have some type of pest. To expect this product to be pest free is unreasonable. 1. Organic products lack harmful chemicals that allow pests to grow plentifully. 2. The OMRI (google it) considers the product to be organic. A lack pests would probably indicate a chemically filled product. ***The challenge of organic gardening IS the lack of pesticides, since we are being "natural", nature will continue to foster****(Google pest free organic soil dangers) Here are some tips to get rid of pests * Buy lady bugs to get rid of gnats. 1500 Live LadyBugs - A GOOD BUG! - Lady Bug * Buy good nematodes to get rid of any other pesticide concerns. 7 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes-Kills over 230 Bugs * For aeration use earth worms 200 Live Earth Worms * To get rid of bad nematodes that cause damage (pimply roots) plant french marigolds. French Marigold Flower Seeds - 1,000 Flower Seeds in Each Packet *To control pests and fungicides (not rid but control) use an OMRI approved product Green Light Organic Neem Concentrate - Pint #17016 * Contact local organic certified farmers to ask what they use for pest control in your area. After planting a peace lily in this soil I noticed a a complete lack of growth, it actually started dying. With no other options I pulled it out of the pot to be met with a mixture of clay and sand that could only be described as brick-like with a few twigs embedded in it. After breaking off the soil-like substance with a hammer I re-planted it with a different potting soil and had much better results. Stay away.

Product easy to use. Just soak in water and wait for it to break apart. Squeeze out water and place damp cocopeat into your plant mix. Fluffy and drains well. No complaints.

This was easy, just copied from another reviewer, thanks Kappledo, very well said. "The coir bricks arrived very fast, but wasn't packed very well. It was just in a cardboard box and during shipping some of the loose material was coming out of the cracks in the cardboard. Seems like it should have been in plastic or something. But other than the packing, I would have given it 5 stars because it appears to be good quality and arrived quickly." Used another similar product of equal quality, but price was too high. Will be using this coir as part of my worm bedding. Also as an alternative of peat moss.

Purchased the coconut coir as replacement bedding for my worm bin. After trying other solutions, with very little success, I decided to go back to using coconut coir for the bedding. The worms seem to like it much better!!

I did a lot of research to find a good potting soil that would support my Lychee plant that I am growing from a seedling. I got it from a Lychee fruit that a girl brought in from work. As i've never had a Lychee fruit before, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was very tasty and a really neat looking seed was inside, and I decided to see if I could grow it. I looked up the plant online and saw that the plant itself was aesthetically appealing. I sprouted it with the plastic baggie method, and then transplanted it into a pot with this soil. I read that Lychee likes soil with a high PH or Acid content, as this soil claimed to have. I kept it in the shade and wow- just a week or two later it was growing upwards as a little stem! I have since been watering it once the soil is dry and moved it to a window with indirect sunlight. The plant is doing great! The leaves are super green with no black edges, and it looks really healthy. Right now it has five big leaves and it's growing more. I have not even been fertilizing it or anything. I even missed watering it a few times and the plant still looks great. This soil was perfect and I give it an A+ to grow a Lychee seedling.

I bought this along with a bag of regular Scotts' Potting Mix. I was quite disappointed to see that it hardly looks any different than plain potting soil and that its chief ingredient is still peat. It says it contains "organic materials, sand, and perlite" that promote drainage, but I was really hoping for something closer to 50% sand and perlite, and the organics will break down eventually reducing drainage. I'm giving 2 stars because although its not pure peat, its just not the Cactus specific soil I was hoping for. I have an Aloinopsis schooneesii in it, too. I'll let you know how it does. I feel this potting soil is poorly formulated for such a specific group of plants. You may read "Made of a mix of sand and Perlite organic material", but I'd strongly recommend further supplementing this soil with sand or fine rock if you choose to use it with your Cacti.

If you need soil for cactus this is the best. It feeds the cactus so you do not have to fertilize.

I read the reviews, and being a novice gardener (was one of my chores as a kid, a very long time ago!), I bought -- but no gnats! I wouldn't know a gnat if I met one, but I encountered nothing moving, and my plants are still in good shape.

I ordered three bags of this potting mix, and there was not a gnat to be found! Just finished repotting plants and am totally pleased with Miracle-Gro - super value and top quality.

We just went through a bout with fungus gnats and I kept shaking my head because I keep a clean house and don't overwater my plants. Asked the DH to pick up potting soil last week to repot my spider plant. Looked in the bag and there were bugs all through the soil as well as these tiny egg-looking bits. So I sprayed pyrmethrin in the bag and resealed it, hoping that would be a good fix. So far I have only seen 4-5 gnats but if I hadn't been in a bind I would have tossed the bag in the trash.

I've been using this for the past few years, but this year, I've not only found the bugs, but I actually have a WEED that grew and punctured through the bag! I kept wondering where all the weeds were coming from in my planter boxes, and now I know!

We repotted about a dozen houseplants a month ago with Miracal Gro potting soil. I've sprayed the soil with indoor insecticide and these little bugs just look up at me a laugh. Insecticidal soap doesn't faze them either. Let's see... Miracle Gro is a division of Ortho and Ortho sells bug spray. Conspiracy theories anyone?

I suffer from plantar fasciaitis and have a rough time with shoes. These Keen shoes are my day to day wear. Super high quality and comfort. My feet are wide and these fit perfectly. There is plenty of room in the toe box. I highly recommend!!!!

stands up well to me with lots of room for my toes. Very wide in the front, but don't slip up and down on your heel.

These shoes are so comfortable. I don't even have to wear my prescription orthotics with them. I highly recommend this brand to anyone with foot problems!

I was replacing my old pair of the exact same shoes. Spent a few hours looking for other brands and styles, and just couldn't come up with anything better for a reasonable price. The shoes are very comfortable, good and bad weather, and are pretty durable.

In 2005 I purchased Keens H2 sandals, and later the Kenn Targhee II tennis shoe, and they were worth every penny for my bad feet. I was confident that this shoe would be another winner when I saw it - and I was right. It has the same comfortable footbed as the other shoes, the sole surface was more tame than the Targhee since this is street model and not a hiking model. It looks good around town, is comfortable, with great arch support. Has the Keen toe bumper, which I like. The shoe is good looking in person, and does not have an odor or get sweaty inside like some tennis shoes. The exterior finish has held up the past year like new, I bought the black pair. On sizing, I recommend buying one full size larger than usual; all models of Keens seem to be undersized. They have kept my feet dry in the rain, but I have not submerged them either. The lacing system is secure for street wear and around town, but I do not recommend these as hikers. Overall a great shoe for around town.
